Born to Andhra politics on 21 December 1972, Yeduguri Sandinti Jagan Mohan Reddy is the leader of Andhra Pradesh politics. In 2025, at 52, he became the torchbearer of his father Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s political legacy. The late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was a former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. His mother is Y. S. Vijayamma, an eminent person in society. His sister, Y.S. Sharmila, is in active politics, holding a big leadership position.

Life & Family
On 28 August 1996, Jagan married Y. S. Bharathi. The couple has two daughters named Harsha and Varsha. The elder daughter, Harsha, studied abroad with a stint at a top business school in France for postgraduate studies after graduating from the London School of Economics. Varsha is currently pursuing further studies in India.


Political Journey
Jagan entered politics in 2009 by winning the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat shortly after his father’s passing. In 2011, after parting ways with the Congress party, he founded the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). Besides a massive statewide padayatra, he cemented strong relationships with the people of Andhra Pradesh. The result of his hard work was the landslide victory of YSRCP at the 2019 state elections, thereby making him the 17th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Between 2019 and 2024, the Jagan administration launched an array of welfare programs, including Jagananna Amma Vodi and the Navaratnalu schemes. These schemes were targeted toward education, health, women’s empowerment, and rural development and thus gained in popularity with many sectors of society.
