Subhajit Chakraborty is a very down-to-earth and sweet singer from Changual, a sleepy hamlet close to Kharagpur in West Bengal. Born on the 10th of July, 1998, he is currently 27 years old in 2025. His story doesn’t just inspire people for the voice he has; it inspires the journey he had to take before finally arriving at national fame. Before his name was a household name, Subhajit was busy helping in the small paan shop run by his family. That humble start became a part of his identity, and during the show Indian Idol Season 15, he was lovingly called “Idol ka Paanwala” by the fans and judges alike.

Music had always been an integral part of Subhajit’s life from his early days. He began with singing in local gatherings and small competitions organised in West Bengal, gradually building up his confidence and skill. The platform Indian Idol came for him as his biggest break; he stood first as the runner-up for Season 2025. Week after week, he was winning hearts with his emotional rendition, most especially songs like “Amay Dubaili Re” and “Jaane Kahan Gaye.” The judges- Shreya Ghoshal, Vishal Dadlani, and Badshah- praised him not just for his vocal prowess but also for the sincerity and soul in his singing weight.
After the show, he stepped fully into the music world, performing everything from concerts across the country to collaborations with music producers. He was now looking into playback singing in films, and his fans were waiting for his original numbers, which should amalgamate his love for Bengali folk with contemporary music trends.
Even with his fame mounting now more than ever, he has kept that great sense of personal identity and attachment to where he’s really from. He often tells how badly he misses his village and the simple life he led before the charm of fame came upon him. Still single to this day, he is focusing on his career. Currently with an estimated worth of ₹40-50 lakh and still gaining followers, it instils in all of us onlookers a true lesson that talent with humility and hard work can change anyone’s life. He is more than a singer; he is an incarnation of how dreams can be fulfilled irrespective of their origins.
