Early Life & Family Background
Washington Sundar came into the world on the 5th of October 1999 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He was raised in a Tamil Hindu family where cricket was the main sport. His daddy, Mani Sundar (normally called M. Sundar), was a very good player and nearly played for Tamil Nadu at a higher level. Mani saw Washington’s potential very early and guided his progress.
There is a very interesting story behind Washington’s name that connects it to his father’s thankfulness: his father had got help from a retired army officer named P.D. Washington, who supported him in his young cricketing days. To honour him, he gave his son the name Washington.
